1986 design introduced · Central Bank of Malta

Għirlanda · flowering plant provides the identifying design on this 25 cents coin. It belongs to the 1986 second decimal family, whose national emblem features a luzzu. The seven-value redesign included the new circulating Lm1 coin, replacing the one-lira note. Dates and proof finishes are not counted as additional design types. Compare the emblem together with the motif when assigning a specimen to its family.
