Abū Bakr ibn ʿUmar · Sijilmāsa dinar
AH479 (1086–1087) · Almoravid dynasty
Brown examined this National Museum dinar of Abū Bakr ibn ʿUmar. Its mint and date agree with an identifiable type described from the Mdina gold hoard discovered in1698. Its membership of that hoard remains a scholarly attribution rather than an intact excavation record.

The catalogue distinguishes a documented Maltese provenance from the mere presence of a coin in a Maltese collection. This issue is included for its published local evidence; its mint must be read separately from the place where it was found.
Dating and classification
AH is the Islamic lunar year. A date interval can span two Common Era years. No annual sequence or unrecorded mint is inferred.
