Borg worked in public gardens and agriculture and later taught Natural History at the University of Malta. His interests included plant disease, Maltese flora and cacti. His donation of about 4,000 plants to the Argotti Botanic Garden connects this commemorative subject with a surviving Maltese botanical collection.
